Despite reports claiming that “Takers” came in at the #2 spot at the Box Office, the cast of fine men have proved everyone wrong. “The Last Exorcism” was beat out by the heist movie “Takers”, which was very entertaining might I add. Here’s what T.I. had to say to BET about its success…
BET: Takers was in less theaters than its competition but still managed to rock the number one spot. What do you think it was about this film?
We were in less theaters but we had a higher per screen average, which means after the math was done the number of people that showed up, the number of sold-out shows we had exceeded the number of sold-out shows our competition had. Although it was believed and perceived that we would fall to the number two slot, the support of the people, word of mouth, the quality of the film and just the energy associated with the project is what catapulted us into the number one slot. We couldn’t have done it without the people. We appreciate it!
BET: I’m seeing on various web sites that Takers was number one, and then Exorcism was number one. Why is there this indecisiveness on which film topped the box office?
You know, in film, it’s much different than music; they count dollar for dollar, hour for hour. In doing that there are estimations that are given — they reported this morning from numbers that came in last night. With those numbers they estimated the end-all-be-all would be the competition being number one and Takers being number two. But this morning, after those estimations have already been reported, the final numbers came in from Sunday night. When all those numbers came in, Takers was indeed number one — officially. They made estimations and kind of prematurely got that word out and miscalculated. The final call is Takers is number one. The people demanded it, as they should — and they got what they wanted.
BET: I know it’s fairly early but do you see anywhere in the future a Takers sequel?
I’m a step ahead of you — I just got off the phone with the director, writer, the head of Screen Gems and the label heads over at Sony. We are working not on a sequel, but a prequel to tell the back story of the characters.
I must say having a prequel would be a good idea. I know a lot of the complaints surrounding the movie had to do with not knowing a lot about the characters, and the lack of character development. However, I have no complaints, especially with the eye candy.
Ahhhh!!! One of my favorite celeb couples and kiddos. I love this bunch, especially their adorable daughters Seraphina and Violet. Now that Jennifer Garner has finished filming “Arthur”, she has more time to devote to her girls (not that she stopped before), and her hubby Ben. The couple took the kids to The Farmer’s Market, while dad Ben didn’t look too eager to see the paparazzi. How adorable is little Seraphina?
Sandra Bullock enjoys giving back to New Orleans, which is where her adopted son Louis was born. Five years after Hurricane Katrina, Sandra has done her part by funding a health clinic for New Orleans’s Warren Easton Charter High School. She attended the ribbon cutting ceremony, and was all smiles while doing so.

As for the adoption details, Sandra explained, “It was a long process. I did not circumvent. I wanted to do everything exactly the same way everyone else did. And– it was– he was always mine, you know. It wasn’t like I felt like someone was going to take him away. But it was nice to have someone say, I think you’re a fit parent.”
“We had always said that it didn’t matter where the child came from. If they had issues that were medical issues, we didn’t care. The occasion was to benefit the Jenesse Center’s Domestic Violence Program. Looks like she left baby Nahla and baby daddy Gabriel behind this time around.
Rick Ross’ “Teflon Don” album is a classic in my book, so I was excited to listen to his track “King Boss” which wasn’t lucky enough to make the album. He even gives an interesting shout out to Beyonce and Jay-Z. I’m not quite sure if I get it. If you do, explain, then tell me what you think about the track…

Kanye is on his music game better than ever. He announced a few days ago that he would be releasing a new song every Friday until Christmas, and he also talked about his 5 song album that him and Jay-Z would be collaborating on together. Now he’s getting in good with heartthrob Mr. Bieber. Kanye, Justin Bieber, and Raekwon from Wu-Tang have collabed for the remix of “Runaway Love”.

Although Usher’s marriage to Tameka Foster wasn’t successful, he has no problem opening up about it. He sat down with People Magazine to discuss the divorce, raising his two sons, and falling in love again.
On his marriage to Tameka:
“I appreciate the relationship for what it was. Even though it didn’t work out, I’m glad we got together. I love her as the mother of my children; we just couldn’t be married,” he told the magazine.
On raising two boys:
“Usher [V] is always in everything. He’s an instigator. He’s the one who leads his brother astray. I was like that when I was his age… if one gets in trouble, the other one does, too. They both have a lot of energy. They can wear me out.”
On his mom babysitting:
“She spoils them. She lets them do everything that she wouldn’t let me do. Sometimes, when I’m scolding the kids, I sound just like my mom. I’m like, ‘how did Jonetta get in here?’ ”
On his music:
“My music is about where I am at the time, In ‘Raymond vs. Raymond,’ I was going through a lot of things, and it came out in my music. My marriage fell apart and I was suddenly a single father. But now, with Versus, I’m singing about being a dating father.”
On finding love again:
“I still believe in love. I believe in marriage. When I fall in love again, everyone will know. I’ll sing about it.”

Lauryn Hill is still going strong on her comeback trail, and recruited a few of her celebrity friends to help her along the way. The “Rock The Bells” tour made a stop on New York’s Governor’s Island, and Lauryn hit the stage with several different artists.
